Sam and Mike’s St. Petersburg wedding beautifully blended vintage soft pinks and greys with modern wedding venue NOVA 535 to produce an unforgettable holiday wedding. Rana of Roohi Photography captured some amazing photos of couple and their wedding party, showcasing why downtown St. Pete is such an ideal location for a Florida wedding.
Sam and Mike’s Love Story:
I met my husband on the first day I started at a new high school in 2005. We hit it off immediately and became great friends. Later that year, we started dating and we have been together ever since.
We got engaged in March of 2009 in Miami. He proposed at the University of Miami on the day we both decided to go to law school there. I picked out the ring a year earlier, so I knew a proposal would happen eventually, but I was incredibly surprised when it actually happened.
Personalizing their St. Petersburg wedding was a priority for Sam and Mike.
“We had a lot of personal and local touches that really told the story of our life together,” Sam explained. “We arrived at the wedding in my family’s 1964 Ford Galaxie. This was my first car and what Mike and I used to drive around in together when we first started dating.”
The Tampa Bay couple, frequenters of antique shops and flea markets, chose pink, gold and grey for their vintage wedding.
“Nearly all of the decorations at the wedding, like the milk glass and old books, were personally found by Mike, myself, and our parents,” the bride said.
To add character to their vintage wedding, the couple chose downtown St. Pete wedding venue NOVA 535.
“We chose NOVA 535 because it had the right feel for our wedding. We didn’t want a traditional hotel ballroom feel, and we were really drawn to the brick building and wood floors of NOVA that complimented our antique style,” Sam shared. “The best thing about NOVA was the venue’s ease. My husband and I were both in law school planning the wedding from Miami, and NOVA’s on-site coordinator was a lifesaver.”
The pair had one of their favorite local italian restaurants caterer the wedding reception and hired a mariachi band to entertain their guests.
“We waited a long time to get married, so it was very important for us to share the occasion with our close friends and family,” Sam reminisced.
