Lauren and Jordan's Longboat Key wedding featured a simplistic, beach-inspired wedding ceremony with a color palette of blush and gold, followed by a glamorous outdoor, garden reception.
The Cincinnati, Ohio couple hosted a destination wedding near the groom's family vacation home. With planning the wedding from afar, the couple hired Sarasota wedding planner NK Productions to make their wedding day memorable.
“We hired NK Productions based on their portfolio and reviews. They were amazing and really made sure everything went as smooth as possible,” Lauren shared.
The couple's wedding date fell on a festive holiday, which added to celebratory atmosphere for the guests.
“Since it was Cinco de Mayo, we created our own specialty margaritas, Hers: Strawberry Basil Margarita. His: Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita.”
Looking back on their wedding day, it's often the most unpredictable moments that become the most memorable, which proved to be true for Lauren.
“The wind was crazy that day! My veil blew off on the beach, everyone's hair was whipping in their face, some of the lanterns were shredded, and the string lights fell down at the end, but it was also the reason for my favorite picture of us on the pier with the waves crashing in the background,” the bride reminisced. “We also have a lot of memories dancing at the reception. Both of our families love to dance, so the dance floor was always full. At one point there was a dance off to the song Footloose between the my grandmother and Jordan's father.”
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
We wanted a beach-y, simple wedding.
What were your colors?
Blush and gold. My favorite colors.
The Proposal:
We headed down to Anna Maria Island with Jordan's family, a frequent vacation destination. After taking a long walk on the beach one morning, Jordan led me to flowers laid out in the shape of a heart with the words, “Will you marry me?” written in the sand. I was completely caught off guard, but of course said, “Yes!” I was also very surprised to find my parents waiting in the bushes along with Jordan's family.
