Waterfront Sarasota Wedding | Powel Crosley Estate Wedding
Amy and Stephen's romantic waterfront Sarasota wedding featured a soft, elegant and sophisticated motif of blush pink, rose gold and cream.
“The venue was so beautiful already that I didn't feel the need to over decorate and kept it simple. I wanted it to have an elegant, sophisticated feel,” the bride explained.
The Riverview couple searched for a Sarasota wedding photographer with a relaxed style, who could capture the intimate moments of their big day while being easy to work with, and who could avoid a lot of awkward posing.
“I found Ashley with Grind and Press Photography and fell in love with the style and feel of her photos,” Amy gushed. “We booked her for our engagement photo shoot, and I knew right away she was going to do our wedding.”

The bride turned to Sarasota wedding hair and makeup team Michele Renee The Studio to make her look her best for her big day.
“I wanted lots of big hair and dramatic makeup for my wedding day. My mom got married recently, and she used Michele Renee The Studio for her hair. We did a trial run, and everything turned out great,” Amy beamed. “The girls showed up on time the day of the wedding and got everyone's hair and makeup done with time to spare. They did such an amazing job; it turned out better than I imagined!”

One of the most important elements to the couple on their wedding day was the DJ. Knowing that they wanted to ensure that their guests had a great time and were able to enjoy their night, the couple hired Sarasota wedding DJ Grant Hemond & Associates.
“I went with Jason Tally from Grant Hemond because he did an amazing job at my mom's wedding. He was so easy to talk to and very accommodating,” Amy shared. “We went over everything on the phone a couple weeks before the wedding, and he helped a lot with song selection ideas when Steve and I had no clue what we wanted. He played all the music we asked for and more and had everyone dancing all night.”

Feeling a little under the weather on her wedding day, Amy still powered through to enjoy her big day.
“I have been told you can't tell in our pictures or video, but I was very sick the day of our wedding with bronchitis. I actually lost my voice a couple days prior,” the bride shared. “Maybe it was the excitement or adrenaline, but something kept me going all night and day and it truly was the best day ever.”
Looking back, Amy shared that one if her most memorable moments was deciding to do a first look with Steve moments before the ceremony.
“I was so nervous, but seeing him before I walked down the aisle calmed me down. It was so nice to spend a few moments with him before we got swept up in everything else the rest of the night. I will forever remember the way he looked as he turned around to see me for the first time,” Amy reminisced.
The Proposal:
Steve proposed to me on Christmas Eve. Knowing how much I love chocolate, he hid my ring inside my chocolate advent calendar. He kept asking me all day to open my chocolate, to which my reply was “I'm not in the mood for chocolate right now.” After asking several times all day, I finally gave in and opened the chocolate. I had no clue he was proposing, and it was the sweetest surprise, especially since we have been together for 8+ years. I was ready!
What was your wedding day beauty inspiration?

What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
I wanted somebody who was easy to work with and had a relaxed style when it came to photography, not a lot of awkward posing etc.

How would you describe your theme?
Romantic and soft colors. I wanted it to have an elegant, sophisticated feel.
What were your colors?
Blush pink, rose, cream and rose gold. I always knew I would have a pink wedding, something about those colors just radiates love to me.

What advice would you give to other Sarasota couples?
Hire a coordinator at least for day of. It made everything go so smoothly. It was one of the first things I did after getting engaged, and I am so glad I did.
Secondly, get a photographer and videographer. I was surprised at how many brides do not have a videographer, saying it is a waste of money because you never watch the videos afterwards. Trust me, you will regret not having your day documented to enjoy for years to come. Pictures can only go so far!
