Jessica and Fernando’s Plant City wedding featured an eclectic combination of their personal styles. Combining their love of both Disney and rustic, vintage decor, the bride and groom showcased their personalities through their laid back theme and rose gold, navy and merlot red color palette.
“My wedding was rustic, chic with subtle touches of Disney and Star Wars. I am a Southern girl at heart, and my husband and I are huge Disney and Star Wars fans,” the bride explained.
The Clearwater couple searched for a Plant City wedding videographer who offered superb quality, while keeping in mind their budget. Sometimes a friend ends up steering you in the right direction, which is how the couple found Bonnie Newman Creative.
“My husband and I had been looking for a good quality, affordable videographer for months for our wedding and were not very successful. We had almost settled on a so-so one, when a friend of mine showed us Bonnie Newman Creative’s wedding videos. We were in love at first sight! Bonnie is hands-down the best videographer I have ever known,” Jessica gushed. “Each and every one of her videos captures the bride and groom’s personalities perfectly. Bonnie was so flexible with us when it came to scheduling and was always very professional. She worked well with my photographer, and she made sure we got all of the shots we wanted in our video. I highly, highly recommend her to any bride-to-be. She really exceeded our expectations.”

Looking back on their wedding day, the bride recalls that aside from their pastor performing their ceremony, one of her cherished memories was the first dance.
“We had been taking dance lessons for quite a few months to make sure it was unforgettable. This was money well-spent in our mind, as it helped us to truly enjoy our first dance. Our guests loved watching us and were cheering the whole time. We will enjoy our dance for years to come!” the bride reminisced.

The Proposal:
The proposal was absolutely one of the most memorable days of my life (aside from my wedding day). I thought we were going on a date to downtown St. Pete. It is a very special place for us, as it is where we had our first date approximately two years prior. Fernando stressed how important it was for me to be ready on time that day, as running late for events is one of my specialties. We arrived approximately one hour after we had planned, and Fernando stressed the importance of us going to a bar across the street. We ordered drinks, and I started talking to him, but he seemed very rushed. He kept asking the bartender for our drinks, which was very unusual for him. We quickly drank our cocktails and left the bar. He told me he wanted to walk around in Vinoy Park for a while. We walked across the street, and I noticed a man playing the violin. Not thinking much of it, we continued to walk through the park. As we approached the man, I noticed the song he was playing. It was one of my favorite songs from Disney’s Cinderella So This is Love, which I had always told Fernando would be a special song to dance to. It was at that moment I knew something was different. He asked me to dance, and we slowly swayed to the song. In my head I kept saying, “Is he going to propose to me right now? Is this for real?” My heart was beating a thousand miles an hour, and I could no longer hear or care to see anyone around me. My eyes locked with the love of my life as I tried to make out the words he was saying. He seemed to be unable to say exactly what he wanted to, but I was able to understand that he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. As we continued to dance, he stopped and got down on one knee. Tears were streaming down my face from the pure joy I felt in that moment. He pulled out the ring from his pocket, and it was absolutely PERFECT! He asked me to marry him and I said “Yes!” We kissed and continued to dance as the violinist finished playing a list of music prearranged by Fernando. The rest of the night I spent calling my friends and family, while my fiancé walked proudly by my side. I truly felt like the most special woman in the whole world.
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
My theme for the wedding was rustic, chic with subtle touches of Disney and Star Wars. I am a Southern girl at heart (raised in North Carolina), and my husband and I are huge Disney and Star Wars fans.
What were your colors?
My primary colors were rose gold, navy, and merlot red. I love rose gold, and I wanted fall/winter colors.
How did you incorporate you and your spouse’s personalities into the wedding?
We incorporated Disney and Star Wars themes into the wedding. We also wrote each other letters to read before our ceremony. We have been writing letters to each other since we first started dating and decided to write them on the most important day of our lives.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Don’t rush into choosing your vendors, and pick a good wedding planner. I would pay a planner any day over choosing to do everything on my own. Having a planner took away so much stress of planning my wedding and allowed me to enjoy my time of being engaged.
