Kendra met Grant, the older brother of one of her friend's, on Facebook. He was living in her hometown of Wadesville, IN, while she was residing in Tampa. The pair finally met a few months later while the bride-to-be was visiting family in Indiana.
“I knew at that point I would do whatever it would take to make him mine!” the bride exclaimed. “We spent a lot of time together over the next few days before it was back to Florida for me.”
After a couple of months of back and forth travel, Kendra moved back to Indiana to be with Grant. Within six months of her arrival, the couple decided to relocate to Tampa to continue their lives together.
Two years later, Grant proposed while were vacationing on a Mexican cruise.
“On day 2 as I was watching the waves crash, he told me to pose for a picture with my back turned to him,” Kendra reminisced. “There was silence for a short while, and when I turned around he was on his knee with a ring asking me to marry him.”

Kendra and Grant chose bold wedding colors, fuchsia and royal blue for her South Beach style St. Pete Beach wedding.
“We love Miami and everything about it. I love fashion and wanted my wedding to be very stylish and modern,” the bride explained.
To complement her lively theme, Kendra carried a brightly colored feather wedding bouquet and had her entire wedding party wear sunglasses during the beachfront ceremony.
“Miami is known for its tourist and locals wearing sunglasses everywhere including indoors. It is more of a fashion statement than anything else,” Kendra said.
The couple focused their attention on hosting a fun-filled party for their wedding guests, including a silhouette screen for guests to dance behind and UV body painter.
“Watching people dance behind the screen was really fun!” the bride exclaimed. “The body painter had a huge line most of the night.”
To bring together the Miami-inspired wedding, the couple hired St. Pete Beach wedding planner Kimberly Hensley Events.
“I hired a planner because I needed some guidance and ideas,” Kendra explained. “When I hired Kim she devoted about an hour of her time to me over the phone before I even hired her. I felt she went out of her way to ask me some very important questions that I had not initially thought of. After that first phone call I told my fiancé that she was the one.”

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Do something unique to make your wedding stand out. I wanted people to say “That was the best wedding reception I have ever been to!” Keep people talking about your special day. This is one day of your entire life that you should enjoy and make memorable. If your wedding is like all the others it’s just another wedding. Be different!
