Woman-Owned

What We Offer:

Anything that has hand lettered or hand drawn elements. I will not use another artists’s work or typeface in my designs. I can write directly onto almost any surface or do the design digitally to have printed on fabric, large format posters, or fun objects like cocktail napkins. Standards are envelope addressing, invitation design, place and escort cards, seating charts, and day of signage.

Our Wedding Style Is:

Full of handmade touches! I love incorporating recycled and natural objects such as vintage glass, repurposed wooden architectural elements, and leaves or shells. Textured paper, silk edged ribbon, and of course wax seals are all traditional elements that will never go out of style. I like to use lots of colors and botanic illustrations. Overall, I’d say “casual elegance with a touch of whimsy” sums up Inky Fingers best.

Our Personality Is:

Laid back and fun with attention to detail. My own wedding was basically “An 8 year old’s birthday party but make it fancy!” We had a dinosaur piñata to house the notes of our “guest book,” a homemade Photo Booth based on The Lorax and Where the Wild Things Are, a fancy make your own taco and ice cream cookie sandwich bar, a paper airplane throw post-ceremony, and a Shave Ice truck. I, of course, made my own invitations, did all of the signage, and painted a custom map for the welcome bags. Weddings are an excuse to go all out and really make your guests feel the love.

What Inspired Us to Start Our Business is:

I was actually living in Key West and realized just how many weddings take place each year on that tiny island! I thought calligraphy would be a great way to incorporate my artistic skills in a bespoke way. I love to help celebrate love.

We Love Being a Part of the Wedding Industry Because:

Not only are they a beautiful reminder of how important people are to one another, their emphasis on the visuals gives artistic touches a moment to shine. With a professional photographer, you can preserve and remember those special details forever.

What Makes Our Business Stand Out From Other Vendors Is:

Inky Fingers Calligraphy is run entirely by one person, so every time we speak I am intimately acquainted with every single detail of your project. Nothing is automated. I am 100% invested in your project and in getting to know you!

One Thing Most Couples Would Be Surprised to Know About Us Is:

I am actually a very clumsy person, despite having chosen a career that depends on precision.

One of Our Non-Wedding Passions Is:

I am a huge bookworm. If I could write addresses without taking my eyes off of my book, I would.

Our Pricing:

Every job is unique! I have a base price for the usual suspects and a list of add-ons. Custom pieces and live on-site services are billed hourly. Please fill out my inquiry form or schedule a call.

Our Associations/Awards:

Member of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers, and Teachers of Handwriting.

Meet Margot

I start most of my days with dessert and love to putter around in my garden, go for family walks, and delve into a good book. A New-England native, I hate the cold and have been living in the sunshine state since graduating from college. An educator at heart, I spent many years working on sailboats, kayaks, and paddle boards teaching about the local history and ecology of coastal cities. I love a good story!
