What happens when you combine an elegantly formal color palette with dreamy winter flora and edgy, industrial details? The resulting inspiration will conjure sophisticated snowy visions for couples wanting to embrace the wintery season here in Florida.
Planner and designer Delaney Driver of Wilder Mind Events shared that her inspiration was the contrast of the colder season with Florida’s almost year-round tropical weather.
“This theme can be described as a Florida-inspired winter. As you know, we don’t really get much of a winter in Florida. I thought it would be a good idea to showcase that you can still have a very romantic and winter feel to your day, even if it’s in a traditionally warm place,” Delaney explained. “Our colors were black and white. These colors were easy to pick because I wanted the white to really pop and the black accent helped bring out that color even more. When I think of winter, I think of snow, so I wanted to create that feeling through our colors.”
Fueled by the approaching holiday season and the picturesque venue, the creative team set out to craft an elevated twist on traditional wedding inspiration. The setting’s azure water and rocky terrain felt like a complete departure from the typical Florida landscape, which helped spur the direction for the photo shoot’s overall vibe.
“It is a gorgeous venue, and I really drew my inspiration from it,” Delaney recalled. “It reminds me of a place that doesn’t belong in Florida, so I thought it was the perfect location to plan something that was a ‘wintered’ theme since that doesn’t really exist in Florida. The holidays were also approaching, and it felt like an appropriate time to have this kind of style for a shoot.”
Tampa Bay wedding photographer Amber McWhorter Photography artfully captured the details and sun-filled portraits in a modern-moody style.
In just three short weeks this team of professionals came together to create their frosty Florida concept, including hair and makeup artists Femme Akoi Beauty Studio who worked their magic to create a modern glam look for the bride.
Neon signs were incorporated in order to complement the venue’s modern-industrial accents and were a favorite detail of the day, along with the adorable pup. FairyTail Pet Care was on hand to help coordinate the furry friend’s 15 minutes of fame, also ensuring he looked his best in one of their custom made tuxedo bandanas.
“I loved the ceremony backdrop the most and thought the neon sign was a fun touch to modernize the look,” Delaney gushed. “I also have to mention that it was really exciting to have my dog model in the shoot (proud mom).”
