Alexandra and Matthew’s destination Sarasota wedding exuded a luxurious theme with timeless details that embodied what the couple envisioned for their wedding day.
“We love the classic elegance of hotels such as the Breakers, that incorporate minimalist floral arrangements, muted colors, and classic décor to accent the existing structure,” the bride explained. “We did not utilize a color palette, per say; we wanted it very light and ethereal with ivory florals and linens. We kept the bridal party in classic black gowns and the groomsmen in midnight blue tuxedos with black lapels.”
MORE: LUXURIOUS WEDDING INSPIRATION
The Boston couple chose Sarasota for a destination wedding as the bride is originally from St. Pete. Having had a great experience with many vendors for her sister’s wedding, Alexandra knew she was in good hands when it came to designing her wedding paper goods and stationery with Tampa Bay wedding invitation company URBANcoast.
“My sister used URBANcoast, and our family had an excellent experience! They also gave us such personalized service and were able to be very definitive about a timeline for all our papery,” Alexandra shared. “They was phenomenal from the start, picking out our invitations and stationery, to the end, providing day of materials and even incorporating our non-traditional ideas, like diamond-shaped cutouts for champagne glasses with guests names and table assignments which we used instead of plain place cards.”
The outdoor nighttime wedding reception featured long candle lit and floral filled feasting tables with satin linens from Over the Top Rental Linens.
Looking back on their wedding day, the bride reflects that the wedding ceremony was one of her most memorable parts of the evening.
“The most memorable moment of the evening was our ceremony. We spent a lot of time working with our pastor to make our day special and the ceremony memorable for our guests. We were really proud of how it all turned out,” the bride reminisced.

How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
We love the classic elegance of hotels such as the Breakers, that incorporate minimalist floral arrangements, muted colors, and classic décor to accent the existing structure.
What were your colors and why did you chose them?

The Proposal:
Matt proposed during a weekend get-away in Newport, RI at the Castle Hill Inn. He had it timed perfectly at sunset by the lighthouse! He also secretly flew in both of our immediate families and hired a photographer to snap the entire proposal.
How did you incorporate you and your spouse’s personalities into the wedding?
Matthew is from Pittsburgh and as is traditional in Pittsburgh, we incorporated a cookie table alongside a non-traditional wedding cake, done with cool blue tones and gold leaf. A little pop of the unexpected that suits my personality. We tried to pick signature cocktails that gave our flare, as gin and whiskey lovers, brought in cigars from Cuba gifted from our family, and hand-selected every part of our ceremony.
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Hire a coordinator! Worth every penny, especially for the day-of bumps that you most definitely will encounter. We used upwards of 12 vendors, not including make-up/hair and the transportation rentals, and it would have ruined the day if my parents or myself would have had to be taken away from getting ready and enjoying to deal with all those inconveniences. The planner kept a tight schedule to ensure photos, ceremony, arrivals and departures; everything was timed out to the second.
