Located off the brick-paved streets of Palm Avenue is the Centro Astriano, a 1900s-era gem of Tampa preserved in grandeur. During the area’s third annual Tie the Knot Ybor wedding showcase, attendees toured this historic three-story yellow brick venue while engaging in an interactive wedding experience.
“Because the venue is so large and has multiple floors, we wanted to show how you can really transform Centro Asturiano de Tampa to whatever aesthetic you’re looking for. The venue stated that they really wanted a Mediterranean vibe in the Covadonga Space as well as a classic, elegant, and modern approach for the rest of the venue and the ballroom,” Annah Tarallo, lead planner and owner of Everlasting Affair shared.
Exploring the rich history and timeless charm of Centro Asturiano, the design team envisioned a ballroom transformation that seamlessly merged tradition with contemporary aesthetics.
“For the ballroom design, we really wanted to compliment the historic side of Centro Asturiano and give it a modern feel,” Annah revealed. “We used their beautiful brown bentwood chairs and accented the space with ivory, gold, and white. We thought these colors really lifted the space and made it shine.”
Eddy Almaguer Photography skillfully captured the essence of this iconic Tampa landmark, accentuating its lavish detailing like multiple crystal chandeliers and a grand marble staircase, inspiring today’s couples to create their own memorable moments within its storied walls.
“The Centro Asturiano is still standing at 109 years old. It is iconic Tampa history. It deserves to be shown in such a beautiful and modern light. There is so much history of the immigrants who came here from countries such as Spain and Cuba,” the planner explained. “We really wanted to complement the venue but also be realistic and intentional for couples today who would love to get married and host their event. We wanted to inspire engaged couples to host their wedding in such a special place in the city of Ybor.”
A stunning escort card installation took center stage in the ballroom, while the delicate ivory and white florals with greenery added a customized feel to the luxury rental. Corresponding place cards were laid on the elegant tablescape with decor from Kate Ryan Event Rentals, while the gilded interior beautifully complemented a hand-drawn illustration of the stately building exterior by stationer Sagebrush Designs.
The grand finale embraced modern-day traditions, with popping a bottle of bubbly that drizzled into a champagne tower of swanky glassware. It was a celebration that mirrored the elegance of the entire event, leaving everyone enchanted by the exquisite details and thoughtful design.
