Romantic Pastel and Metallic Downtown St. Pete Wedding | NOVA 535

Megan and Matt hosted a romantic, pastel and metallic downtown St. Pete wedding. The bride selected a timeless and classic look with mercury glass adornments.

“I chose whites, pale pink, mint green, grey and metallics for the colors,” the St. Petersburg bride shared. “I wanted the flowers to be soft and look like they had just been gathered from the garden and not be too structured on the tables.”

The Tampa Bay couple searched for several months for the perfect St. Pete wedding venue that wasn't a typical hotel venue.

“I loved the exposed brick and the courtyard at NOVA 535 Unique Event Space. I loved the feeling I got inside,” the bride gushed. “Everyone who was at the wedding has said how much they loved the site and how amazing it was.”

One of the couple's biggest splurges was hiring a professional wedding photographer, and on the recommendation of the bride's makeup artist Lasting Luxe, Megan and Matt hired Roohi Photography.

“Rana [of Roohi Photography] was the first photographer I had looked into. I looked at hundreds of photographers, but just kept going back to her work,” the bride explained. “I loved all her sessions and her details. Rana was amazing and made everything so easy.”

Looking back, one of Megan's most memorable moments occurred just before her wedding ceremony.

“The moment at the top of the stairs with my dad, it sank in that it was happening and nerves set in,” the bride reminisced. “After the ceremony, with all our friends saying congrats and standing with my new husband and the amazing speeches that brought the room to tears and laughter will forever stand out to me.”

What elements of your wedding were the most important?
We spent a long time on the ceremony, making sure it said everything we wanted and took out the parts we didn't. After all that is what the day is about!

What were the deciding factors for choosing NOVA 535?
I had spent months looking for a venue that wasn't your typical hotel wedding. I loved the exposed brick and the courtyard at NOVA 535 Unique Event Space. I loved the feeling I got inside. Everyone that was at the wedding has said how much they loved the site and how amazing it was.

The staff was so accommodating to all our needs; they worked very closely with us to make sure our vision was perfect. I also loved Michael [the owner] who was very helpful throughout the process.

What did you look for in a wedding photographer?
Our top vendor was photography and what we splurged on the most. It was important for us to be able to look back at great pictures. I spent a lot of time looking at wedding blogs, photographer blogs and Pinterest. I was looking for someone who would be able to tell the story of our wedding day through pictures. I wanted the pictures to have a uniqueness, but timeless as well.

Rana [of Roohi Photography] was the first photographer I had looked into, as she was referred to me by my makeup artists Michele of Lasting Luxe. I looked at hundreds of photographers and their work, but just kept going back to her work. I loved all her sessions and her details. Rana was amazing and made everything so easy. She is so sweet and easy to get along with.

The Proposal:
One Thursday at work, I got flowers saying to pack my bags that we were going to the islands the next day. I was slightly freaking out because I couldn't get a hold of Matt or my boss to make sure I was cleared for the day(s) off. I had no idea how long I would be gone. I called my mom next, who said we were going to the mall after work and to get manis. We had to get a cute new dress for such a trip.

I got home and there were rose petals leading to our room with my weekender bag on the bed. He had given me the bag a few months before for an anniversary present for this exact weekend. We left the next day to Key West where we rented bikes and rode all around town to see the sites. The last place on the list was the light house. At the top we were all alone and that is where he proposed.

It had been five years to the day when we had our first date in Dublin, where the day has started off at the Guinness Storehouse which at the top has a 360-degree view of the city, similar to the lighthouse.

I started crying and hardly remember the rest of what was said, but I said yes through the tears. We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating with frozen drinks and bike rides through Key West. It was absolutely the best proposal weekend I could imagine.

How would you describe your theme?
My wedding vision was soft and romantic.

What were your colors?
I choose whites, pale pink, mint green, grey and metallics for the colors. I wanted the flowers to be soft and look like they had just been gathered from the garden and not be too structured on the tables.

I knew I wanted mercury glass and chalkboards for decor. I spent months gathering up all the mercury glass I could and made all the chalkboard signs. I picked those colors because to me they are timeless and classic. I know that in a few years I will still love everything about my wedding night.

How did you incorporate you and your husband's personalities into the wedding?
My husband loves Liverpool Football Club in England. Their motto is “You'll Never Walk Alone,” and there is a song by Gerry and the Pacemakers with the same title. I surprised him by having that as our last song and inviting everyone to surround us while we danced. It was one of our favorite memories of the night. It was overwhelming to have everyone we loved most surround us in a giant hug singing and swaying while we danced in the middle.

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
The process is stressful, but remember that it is about you and your soon-to-be husband. Don't feel like you have to do something or spend money on something just because you are supposed to. Think about what matters most about your day and focus on that.

Also if you can afford an extra hour for reception do it! It went by in a blink!
