Old Hollywood Glamour St. Petersburg Nova 535 Wedding – Kenzie Shores Photography

Engaged Tampa couple Erika and David decided they didn’t want a beach wedding; she wanted to wear stilettos and he wanted air conditioning. While looking at wedding blogs, she came across pictures from a Nova 535 wedding by Kenzie Shores Photography and knew she found a venue that gave her the “jazz club meets Hollywood glamour” atmosphere she wanted.

“I'd walked into my modern-vintage mental picture,” Erika said after arriving at wedding venue Nova 535. “The exposed brick, the hardwood floors, the wrought-iron staircase, the enormous bar, dim lights (and uplighting), art on the walls, it wasn't your typical hotel ballroom. There wasn't a grain of sand in sight.”

After they chose the venue, the couple started searching for wedding vendors. Choosing a good photographer was one of the most important decisions for Erika and David, and after narrowing it down to three wedding photographers, they chose Kenzie Shores.

“We wanted a fashion photography meets photojournalism approach, and we just kept coming back to Kenzie,” Erika explained.

With the photographer in place, Erika moved on to the next most important item, the wedding cake.

While many brides envision a certain type of wedding cake, Erika was set on a specific taste.

“I was determined to have, come hell or high water, cupcakes from Wright's Gourmet. I didn't want a fancy cake. I wanted a fancy tasking cake,” she said. “No matter how much people showed me beautiful cakes. I wanted cupcakes. I needed cupcakes. And they could not be any other cupcake but Wright's mouth-watering creations.”

She fed her guests four flavors: red velvet, hummingbird, vanilla, and chocolate.

While on a sugar high, guests were entertained by a photobooth, open bar and music by DJ Jaey Babylatin.

To mirror the modern/vintage theme, the bride's hand tied wedding bouquet consisted of White Calla Lilies, Crystal Sprays and Black Rooster Feathers. It was wrapped with black satin ribbon and was adorned with a vintage crystal floral broach.
