Christine and Joey’s industrial Lakeland wedding captured modern elegance at its finest with a mix of simplistic greenery and romantic decor. Featuring a handmade donut wall and plenty of Italian culture, this central Florida wedding incorporated charming personal touches throughout.
“Joey and I are both Italian. Because of our roots, we wanted our special day to be a mix of an Italian vineyard meets New York industrial,” the bride explained. “We also knew we wanted a really classic elegant wedding with green and white colors. I personally didn’t want to look 30-40 years back and wonder why I ever choose the color pink or red. We wanted a classic timeless look, not a fad.”
The bride was an avid reader of Marry Me Tampa Bay and looked to our online planning site for ideas for her local wedding.
“I love Marry Me Tampa Bay! I used it as an inspiration for wedding details! There are some great weddings featured!” Christine gushed.
Wishing for a Lakeland wedding venue with an abundance of natural light and a modern, industrial look, the bride and groom chose HAUS 820.
“HAUS 820 had all the attributes in a building that we desired. I never wanted to get married indoors, so the huge windows of the venue played a big part in booking. I wanted a space that allowed for beautiful natural light,” the bride shared. “Joey and I really enjoyed working with them, and it was clean and simple!”
Finding a DJ who truly cared about getting to know their clients was important for Christine and Joey, and they knew they were in great hands with Grant Hemond & Associates.
“Grant Hemond & Associates were so unique. They talked to both Joey and me over the phone to get to know us better and matched a DJ to our personalities. We thought that was amazing! Phillip really was the perfect fit for us,” the bride gushed. “They kept the pace of our wedding and had everyone on the dance floor the whole night. Not only was Phillip so professional and dressed for the occasion, but honestly he blew our minds with how organized he was. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ!”
Looking back, the bride and groom reminisced about spending time with friends and family and worshiping God through song.
“Joey and I took part in communion during our ceremony and during that time we had our friends sing a beautiful worship song. Between God’s spirit being present, worshiping, taking communion, and realizing the covenant that was taking place, we were overwhelmed with love. It couldn’t have been more special,” Christine reminisced.
The Proposal:
On a rainy day, under the famous Ringling Bride in Sarasota, Joey surprised me by having his best friends pick me up, blindfold me, and bring me under this bridge with an umbrella. A videographer and photographer were there to document the moment, and Joey setup a beautiful area under the bridge full of our memories to propose with. This was special to us because we first talked about romantic feelings for each other under this bridge.
What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We wanted for an industrial look and an amazing amount of natural light with a blank canvas to create on and clean white neutral tones to go with our theme.

HAUS 820 had all the attributes in a building that we desired. I never wanted to get married indoors, so the huge windows of the venue played a big part in booking. Joey and I really enjoyed working with them, and it was clean and simple!
How would you describe your theme/wedding design inspiration?
Joey and I are both Italian. My last name is Bacigalupo now, and you can’t get more Italian than that. Because of our roots, we wanted our special day to be a mix of an Italian vineyard meets New York industrial. I wanted a space that allowed for beautiful natural light. I knew if we could find a space with natural lighting, not only would it help the photography and videography post-production, but the little glass details we had throughout the wedding would sparkle even more.
What were your colors?
Green and white. We really wanted a classic elegant wedding. I personally didn’t want to look 30-40 years back and wonder why I ever choose the color pink or red. We wanted a classic timeless look, not a fad.
What did you look for in a wedding DJ?
We looked for someone fun and outgoing that could run the crowd. We also wanted someone who understood that we did not want music with cuss words in them, not even the edited version. We wanted a DJ who cared about our requests and understood how we wanted the flow of the wedding to go.

Grant Hemond & Associates were so unique. They talked to both Joey and me over the phone to get to know us better and matched a DJ to our personalities. We thought that was amazing! Phillip really was the perfect fit for us. Because of how happy we were, I now recommend them to all of my brides! They honestly kept the pace of our wedding and had everyone on the dance floor the whole night. Not only was he so professional and dressed for the occasion, but honestly he blew our minds with how organized he was. We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ!
What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Make the process fun! Get inspired. It’s easy to get overwhelmed but work with your partner to help each other, and don’t let the time fly by. The planning process can be fun and remember, but it’s about your marriage at the end of the day. When you realize that the stress of the wedding becomes smaller and smaller, you can do a better job at nailing down tasks!
