When it came to planning their wedding, Tampa couple Jennifer and Charlie had an easy time finding common ground, their love for old Tampa.
“Both of our grandmother’s grew up in Ybor City and worked in the factories here. They are also both from Spain so we wanted to incorporate that as well,” the bride explained.

To tie in their Spanish heritage, the couple served mini empanadas, deviled crabs, & bacon wrapped plantains during the cocktail hour, then a traditional Cuban menu of pulled pork, mojo grilled chicken, yellow rice, black beans and Cuban bread from Tampa wedding caterer Catering by the Family.
“We wanted to make sure that everyone ate a good authentic ‘Spanish' meal,” Jennifer said. “We were able to donate our left over food to the Ronald McDonald house, which I thought was awesome!”
The cigar themed wedding featured Save-the-Date postcards imprinted with a Tampa cigar box, the ring bearer carried a cigar box down the aisle and the couple even served Cigar City beers at the reception. But this wedding wasn't in an Ybor City warehouse, it was at Tampa waterfront wedding venue Davis Island Garden Club.
“After visiting Davis Islands Garden Club it exceeded our expectations. We could get married by the water and we had an outdoor space with plenty of room for dancing,” Jennifer explained.
The bride credits her Tampa wedding planner Winsor Event Studio, for a memorable night.
“I cannot thank Christi Winsor, our wedding coordinator, enough, because she listened to our ideas and exceeded our expectations. She made our vision come to life and even brought in Cigar City beer as a little treat! After our wedding we wouldn't of changed anything it was absolutely perfect in our eyes,” Jennifer gushed.
What advice do you have for Tampa Bay Brides?
My one piece of advice to brides is to make sure you have someone the day of your wedding to take off the stress of the day. I had a stress free day. I got to enjoy hanging out with my girlfriends and getting ready like we used to in our single days! Plus, I had someone doing all of the work for me!
