Gold, Blush Pink and Grey Waterfront Wedding | Westin Tampa Bay

Brides Who Brunch Tampa Bay Bridal Wedding Planning Show - Sunday, April 15, 2018

Allison and Andrew's waterfront Tampa wedding combined a classic, muted color palette of gray, blue, blush and white with the stunning views of Tampa Bay to set the stage for their romantic winter wedding.

“I loved how timeless our colors were and how the soft colors kept our wedding theme simple, but elegant,” the bride explained. “The girls wore gray dresses in various shades, and the guys wore navy blue suits. I loved how well the blush pink and white tones complemented the gray and navy blue so perfectly.”

Growing up in Tampa, the couple had no question as to where they wanted to get married. Wanting to take advantage of the waterfront view of the Bay, but not necessarily on the beach, the couple selected The Westin Tampa Bay for its beautiful views and ceremony and reception amenities.

“We looked at a lot of venues, but nothing compared to The Westin Tampa Bay. The main reasons we picked our wedding venue were the beautiful location, the quality of the venue and the amazing people that work there. They had a beach terrace right on the water with beautiful views of the Bay and of the downtown Tampa skyline,” Allison shared. “The price was incredibly reasonable, and we could not be happier with our choice in wedding venue! Numerous other venues wanted to charge us separately for every little piece of the wedding, but The Westin had everything we could need and more included in the price: ceremony space, chair rental, linens and tables, food and bar service, uplighting, hospitality rooms for getting ready, a fabulous coordinator to help us through the process, and so much more! ”

Knowing that entertainment can make or break a wedding reception, the couple searched for a Tampa Bay wedding DJ who could make the evening flow smoothly and keep their guests dancing.

“We hired Grant Hemond & Associates because we received numerous recommendations for them. Our DJ, Tony Lange, did an absolutely amazing job! Our guests could not stop raving about how wonderful our DJ was. We had a huge range of ages at our wedding (from 8 years old to 80 years old), and Tony played music that everyone loved,” the bride gushed. “I have never been a big dancer, so I told my husband that I didn't think I would dance much on our wedding day and just planned on mingling with our guests, but literally every song Tony played was great, and I never got off the dance floor the entire night!”

From the arch that the bride's father built for their wedding ceremony, to the cat decor on their wedding cake, the couple focused on making their wedding a true reflection of their relationship.  Looking back, the bride reflected that her most memorable wedding day moment occurred during the ceremony.

“From walking down the aisle with my dad to marrying my best friend, the whole ceremony was truly magical, but what made it even more special was that my husband had written our entire wedding script. We looked around online for a wedding script to use for our ceremony, but none of them seemed to fit us as a couple. My husband was an English major in college, so he decided to write it himself. It was so special that every piece of our ceremony fit us perfectly, and it is definitely something we will treasure forever,” Allison reminisced.

What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We looked at a lot of venues, but nothing compared to The Westin Tampa Bay. The main reasons we picked our wedding venue were the beautiful location, the quality of the venue and the amazing people that work there. They had a beach terrace right on the water with beautiful views of the bay and of the downtown Tampa skyline. The price was incredibly reasonable, and we could not be happier with our choice in wedding venue! It was the perfect location and close to the airport, which made it convenient for our out-of-town guests.

The entire wedding planning process is very stressful, and I definitely would not have been able to do it without the help of Samantha Mann at The Westin. She made sure every last detail was perfect, and I did not have to worry about a thing on our wedding day. She was very responsive to all of my questions and emails and very organized throughout the whole process. She met with us numerous times at the venue to walk us through how everything would be set up and how the day would flow. She worked so well with all of our vendors to make sure that our wedding day went off without a hitch. It was the perfect day!

The Proposal:
Andrew and I took a weeklong vacation to Key West. Unfortunately, as we began the 8-hour drive from Tampa, there was a tropical storm rolling through the Florida Keys. It rained our entire drive and most of the first day. We had made reservations our first night in town at a restaurant on Sunset Key, which is a beautiful private island right off of Key West. Even though it had been raining all day, we decided to go to our dinner reservations. As we sat on the outside patio, the clouds began to part, and we had the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Andrew suggested we go to the end of the dock by the restaurant and take a picture of the sunset. After we took a few pictures, I began to walk back to our dinner, and he grabbed my hand, turned me around and he was down on one knee. The whole restaurant began to clap, and a wonderful couple who was standing on the dock near us took pictures for us so we could remember this moment forever. As soon as we sat back down at our table, the clouds rolled in again and it starting pouring. It rained for the rest of our trip, but for that brief moment when he proposed, we had the most beautiful sunset.
