Rustic Dade City Wedding | The Lange Farm Wedding
Kristen and Michael's Dade City wedding featured a classic gold, black and grey color palette with sophisticated and elegant decor.
“Our theme was high-end rustic; we chose the theme after we saw the venue. We are both simple and not over the top, so we knew we weren’t going to be extravagant,” the bride explained.
The Tampa natives chose a classic Tampa Bay wedding venue that reflected their personalities.
“I never thought of getting married outside until I saw The Lange Farm. The trees are something you only dream of in Florida. Seeing the big oak trees and the barn, it felt right.” Kristen gushed. “When I entered the Garden Room and saw the chandelier, I was sold. I am very girlie and very classic and knowing that my first dance with my husband was going to be under it, I melted.”
Searching for a fun photographer to capture their special day, the couple hired Tampa Bay wedding photographer Brian C. Idocks Photographics.
“We wanted to laugh and not be stressed out. We wanted someone to take the cliché pictures and not question or say no. When Michael and I met Brian [of Brian C. Idocks Photographics] for our engagement shoot, I knew we were going to like him. He made things fun and didn’t take everything so seriously on what is already a stressful day and time,” the bride shared.
Looking back, one of Kristen's most memorable moments was locking eyes with her groom as the ceremony began.
“Walking down the aisle through the wooden doors and seeing Michael at the end was so memorable,” the bride reminisced. “The reception and dancing with all our friends and family was just something that was unforgettable.”
The Proposal:
Michael told me that we needed to take a picture of some realty for his parents, and we had to go to Picnic Island. There, we went on the dock and could see the Skyway Bridge. I turned my back to him, and he said I guess we can't see the property from here, but let's take a picture of this instead, and when I had turned around Michael was on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said, “Yes!” and cried, but he didn’t hear me and said, “So is that a yes?” and I said “Yes, yes of course!”
How would you describe your theme?
I would describe our theme as high-end rustic. We chose the theme of our wedding after we saw the venue. We are both simple and not over the top, so we knew we weren’t going to be extravagant.
What were your colors?
Gold, black, and grey. Classic, yet rustic.
What did you look for in a wedding venue?
We looked for something that was us. I wanted something classic and that felt like Michael and I. I never thought of getting married outside until I saw The Lange Farm. The trees are something you only dream of in Florida. When I entered the Garden Room and saw the chandelier, I was sold. I am very girlie and very classic and knowing that my first dance with my husband was going to be under it, I melted. Seeing the big oak trees and the barn, it felt right. I knew we wanted to utilize everything they had to offer. Their service was astounding. Jenny went above and beyond for us. She never came to me with anything, as to not stress me out. She answered questions throughout the planning of the wedding and made sure the day was perfect.
What did you look for in a wedding caterer?
We looked for someone who gave us options. We didn’t want to be stuck with boring, bland food.
We have previously used Delectables so we knew they were amazing! When we saw that they were on the recommended vendor list, we knew we had to use them yet again. Michael and I chose chicken and beef because we didn’t want people to have to choose. The sides were based on what we wanted. I love potatoes, so we knew we had to have them, and you have to have veggies!

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay couples?
Enjoy the process. It can get overwhelming, but enjoy every step. You wont understand how fast the day goes by until it's your day, but try and remember everything. Take pictures of everything. Just breathe and know that if anything goes wrong, no one will know because they don’t know otherwise! Dance, dance, dance the night away.
