Davis Islands Garden Club Wedding | Vintage Tampa Wedding

Liz and Geno's garden Tampa wedding mixed vintage elements with modern details.

“I loved the idea of vintage touches, but still with a modern look with pretty lace things and some girly sparkle, like our blush sequin tablecloth. It gave a pretty and casual look, but whimsical at the same time,” the bride explained. “What made our wedding unique is all of little décor bits and pieces of things I found at vintage markets, Etsy, or that we handmade. The hand built whiskey bar my dad made, which was front and center, was the most popular gathering spot of the night!”

The Wesley Chapel couple searched for a waterfront Tampa wedding venue that incorporated the beauty of the outdoors, but was not on the beach wedding.

“As soon as we walked through the beautiful white arch covered with flowers and saw the brick path leading to a gorgeous secluded garden with a white gazebo perfectly placed in the middle of the grass overlooking the entire Tampa Bay on the water, we knew this was it immediately,” the bride gushed.

Looking back, one of Liz's most memorable moments was during her lantern send off.

“We went down to the water at dark with the city lights in the background, Geno and I held the lantern together, made a wish and gently let go. Watching it float away was a magical end to the perfect night,” the bride reminisced.

The Proposal:
Geno and I had planned to go see our favorite band, Florida Georgia Line, play. It would be the first time we were to see them, and we invited all of our friends to go together. What I didn’t know was that Geno had already planned this! He had got in touch with the band and the band manager and planned a special surprise for me!

Florida Georgia line called me up on stage to my huge shock, and when I got up there Geno was standing there in the middle of the stage with a microphone; I couldn’t believe my eyes! He gave the sweetest speech and said the most beautiful words, and then got down on one knee. The crowd was cheering so loud, I couldn’t stop crying and of course gladly accepted! Definitely the biggest surprise of my life!

What did you look for in a makeup artist?
I wanted a more natural look, because I don't really wear eyeshadow. I just wanted a simple cat eye, lashes and a good full coverage foundation that would last and give me a pretty glow all night!

I had a complimentary make up  application with Stephanie [of Moore Makeup Artistry] for my engagement photos, which I absolutely loved, so I definitely trusted her to do my makeup for the wedding. She was also so nice, friendly and listened to every request or concern I had. She did exactly what I had visioned.

How would you describe your theme? What made you choose it?
Modern, vintage garden wedding. I loved the idea of vintage touches, but still with a modern look with pretty lace things and some girly sparkle, like our blush sequin tablecloth. It gave a pretty and casual look, but whimsical at the same time.

What were your colors and why did you chose them?
Soft neutral colors of blush, gold, white, champagne and lilac. I thought they were romantic and whimsical colors for a spring garden wedding!

What made your wedding unique?
All of little décor bits and pieces of things I found at vintage markets, Etsy, or that we handmade. The gem of a vintage couch I found and purchased also made the wedding photos unique. The hand built whiskey bar my dad made, which was front and center, was the most popular gathering spot of the night!

What advice would you give to other Tampa Bay Brides?
Don’t forget to HAVE FUN!

I know too many friends who have got so stressed and upset over the planning process. I know it can be difficult, especially with the other people trying to put in their input and family discussions on money or getting all the décor put together etc. This is supposed to be a fun time in your life. Enjoy it. It goes by too fast.

Remember the whole reason on why you're getting married and the happiness of that special day to come. Remember to just breath, take it in, relax and enjoy the process, or what’s the point?!
